Cabinet Assembler 1st Shift
Position Summary:
Assembles cabinet components by examining connections for correct fit as well as fastening parts and subassemblies according to design specifications and approved procedures. Verifies specifications by measuring completed component. Resolves assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Prepares work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists; gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
- Positions parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements.
- Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and subassemblies.
- Verifies specifications by measuring completed component.
- Resolves assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources.
- Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
- Must move completed cabinets with furniture handcarts.

Education and Experience:
Experience within a manufacturing environment, particularly in furniture manufacturing is preferred.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge: Knowledge of cabinet materials, production processes, machines, hardware, and assembly tools; Ability to read and interpret blueprints and layouts when needed. Ability to work at a quick pace while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills.
Abilities: Ability to accurately prepare documents, production sheets and other reports and related paperwork as required by our procedures; Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquires or complaints; Ability to bring assignments to a successful completion; Ability to apply principles of logical thinking of a wide range of practical problems; Ability to work independently and make independent decisions.

Physical Demands: While performing duties of this job, would occasionally be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls. Work might entail significant time spent standing, exposure to extreme temperatures, enduring distracting/uncomfortable sounds and noise levels, as well as exposure to potentially hazardous conditions and equipment. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Employee may be required to climb stairs as needed to access various areas of the building. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to adjust focus. Overtime may be necessary as work load’s dictate.
